Yoda vs Mickey (no, seriously)

 

Well this is certainly a “match with history” and one that’s “worth being a season finale.”

And by that I mean it’s not and everyone that signed off on this Cartoon Fight Club level travesty should feel bad about it. At least with the often-circulated Yoda vs Meta Knight proposal you had the space knight theme. What’s the theme here? Two small swordsmen with funny ears and funny voices? You can’t even say that it’s a mentor vs mentor fight. King Mickey doesn’t mentor you in the games. He hardly does anything at all but flit about in the background doing vaguely important crap. In 2, he was the guy that you killed yourself playing as Sora to play as. I mean, yeah, he probably gave Riku some training off-screen, but that’s not really the same as the dedicated teacher role Yoda had. The little dude was teaching younglings back in the prequels. The “grand master” theme also doesn’t fit. Yen Sid and Erauqs were the ultimate masters. Mickey is just a keyblade master. He’s like, Luke or Obi-Wan level on the hierarchy.

 

Oh well, at least this one is easy to call. I can knock this sucker out and get back to being depressed about how everything in 2021 is shaping up to be worse than 2020. At their most wanked (and we’ll probably get them at their most wanked since they gave us MFTL Luffy and several-hundred-universes Hulk, as stupid as it all is), we have a multiverse level mouse vs a star level muppet. At more conservative and reasonable estimations of their power, we have a mouse that fights people that slice through skyscrapers and can use magic to heal himself and stop time vs a telekinetic muppet. This is a more even matchup by far, but Mickey still takes it. The combination of being able to instantly heal himself back to full health and shut down the jumping Kermit with time stop is just too good for Yoda to overcome, especially when you have to jump through a lot of hoops to buff him beyond the “struggling to lift an X-wing out of a swamp” feat from Empire. Yoda might be able to pull off a win by using the Jedi mind trick, but I don’t see it as being likely since Mickey resisted being corrupted and mind controlled by masses of heartless. I really don’t see them splitting hairs and arguing that Mickey resisting heartless corruption is too different from resisting the Jedi mind trick. Mickey also scales better than Yoda. Look at all the ridiculous stuff Sora has pulled off in Kingdom Hearts. He’s beaten up gods, genies, titans, etc.

 

Well, that was easy. And depressing.
