The Boys vs The Seven
The FORBIDDEN Death Battle Prediction Blog Episode 19
Prediction 6
The Boys vs The Seven
…But why?
I mean, yes, we know why this fight exists. WB knows that Death Battle hits that late teens/early twenties demographic they’re marketing The Boys tv show to and wants to drum up hype for the new season.
But why this way?
They couldn’t have done Billy Butcher vs Stain? Or Homelander vs Hyperion? This is like getting Batman vs the Joker or Spider-Man vs Green Goblin. We know the winner. The source material tells us the winner.
I think I know what happened. WB told Ben to do a The Boys themed episode. Ben said sure, here’s a list of possible matchups featuring characters from The Boys. WB replied no, you don’t get it Ben, when we say do a The Boys themed episode, we don’t mean you share it. It’s a The Boys episode and only a The Boys episode.
“But master…” Ben squeaked while holding his Sonic plushie closer. “…That’s not how our show works…”
“It is now.” WB said. “And for your impudence, I order you to feed your favorite childhood character to the DIALS. Muwahaha.”
Typical boardroom stuff, really.
The Seven win. How do they not? They already ran a computer simulation with 85% accuracy of what would happen in the comic if the teams fought battle royal style. The Boys all die and Homelander, Black Noir, and maybe Queen Maeve survive. This is in the universe of the comic where the Boys all have super strength. In the television show it’s even more of a stomp for the Seven. The Boys don’t have superpowers in the show.
In both the comic and show, the Boys beat the supes not by being stronger but by being smarter, sneakier, and meaner. They use CIA tactics. They dox, blackmail, intimidate, manipulate, and if they have to take down a supe, they ambush them in an alley and curbstomp them. If they’re in a straight-up fight against the Homelander, something has gone horribly wrong with their planning. Billy Butcher’s greatest weapon isn’t his strength. It isn’t even his trusty crowbar. It’s that he’s very patient.
Man. This is a bummer for several reasons.
It stinks of meddling by DB’s corporate masters.
It’s the first time we’ve had a same-canon fight since Meta vs Carolina.
It’s the first time we’ve ever had a team vs team fight.
It’s a fight that’s answered in universe.
And poor BvS Guy got shafted.
Come on DB. Do Billy vs Stain. It’s got an excellent theme, the two characters play off each other very well, and the power levels are refreshingly low.
You guys owe BvS Guy at this point.
