Cloud vs Link II
Alright. I’m on board with this. The season is starting to inch over to the “good” column.

What’s Riding On This Battle
Link vs Cloud is probably the most requested salty runback outside Goku vs Superman, and there are good odds that we won’t see Goku vs Superman III, only a proxy battle like Martian Manhunter vs Jiren. But who knows, I won’t be surprised if Goku vs Superman III ends up being the penultimate or finale this season.
I’m looking forward to seeing who wins this, because at first glance, not a lot rides on this fight besides overturning a season 1 result, but if you look a little closer you’ll find that this is a huge battle when it comes to the scores. Currently, The Legend of Zelda is 2-2. Zelda and Ganon lost to Peach and Dracula while Link and Ganon beat Cloud and Bowser. But Ganon beating Bowser was basically overturned by Ganon losing to Dracula. Outside of a salty runback, you aren’t going to get a debunk harder than Liam “Saying Ganondorf can only be killed by holy weapons is like saying Tupac can only be killed by drive-bys” Swan writing Dracula enacting Deliverance on Ganon. So with that in mind, the score is actually 1-3. If Link wins, then it becomes 2-3. That’s not a great score, but it’s pretty respectable compared to some other series and teams. But if Link loses, his first win becomes debunked harder than a New Hampshire Democrat and the score becomes 0-5. Legend of Zelda will become the new Power Rangers.
So, who is going to win?
Well, we can make a pretty good guess going by statements from previous battles. We know from Ganon vs Dracula that they don’t buy into cosmic level triforce wank and cap Ganon at planet level at max, and we know from Sephiroth vs Vergil that they do buy into Sephiroth’s supernova attack being an actual no-bullshit supernova. How they’re going to explain supernova in the remake appearing outside the trippy Space Sheriff Gavan dimension that includes a regenerating solar system and is maintained by a guy with illusion powers as just a big nuke-level fireball, I don’t know, but it’s going to be interesting to see them address it, or dance around it.
So, planet vs supernova…not hard to see who wins. Cloud gets to set the record straight.
But Who Wins Without Wank?
Cloud. Barring serious abuse of composite rules (for instance, combining the Zelda II spell system with the infinite magic milk from Majora’s Mask to create a Link that can fully heal himself every second) Cloud should take it. He’s got the mobility advantage with that crazy Advent Children not-flying stuff while Link is stuck having to use the hookshot. Cloud can also summon essentially an army of Zelda bosses to help him fight. Cloud vs Link? Debatable. Cloud and Bahamut and Knights of the Round vs Link…less debatable. His healing is also better and more reliable than Link’s. Link’s mp pool isn’t as deep as Cloud’s, and neither are his health potion pockets. If Link wants to get the chance to heal, he’s going to have to escape a dude with a weird hover-dash movement power and his pet dragon. If Cloud wants to get the chance to heal, he just sends out Knights of the Round while he gets himself a sandwich. Cloud can afford to make more mistakes than Link, and that’s why he’s going to win.
