Chaor (Chaotic) vs Asgore (Undertale)

You remember Chaotic? Actually let me rephrase that:Ever heard of Chaotic? No? Guess I need to explain. Chaotic is a TCG game that like Yu-gi-oh before it, got its own tv show, unlike yu-gi-oh however, the fate of the world wasn’t determined by a fucking card game. To save you the trouble of reading a wikipedia summary of the show. The creatures found in cards live in a world called Perim. Humans can go there to scan the creatures so they can fight as them in Chaotic. But perim is a world with its own things going on. Perim is in a constant state of conflict between 4 tribes, the overworld, the underworld, the mipedian and the danians. Chaor is the ruler of the underworld. Now I could get into all of the lore of Chaotic but we’d be here all day.

This is for the connections coomers

-Both are rulers of an underground civilization

-Both are pyromancers

-Both of them are based on the devil

-Both are seen as ruthless monster but have a noble side

-Both believe that ends justify the means, Asgore is a child murderer and Chaor has sacrificed his own soldiers to finish the mission

-Both befriended a human who they develop a father son relationship with

-If you wanna stretch it, their second in command is warrior lady and they have a crazy scientist working for them

-Both wage war on the world above

– for a contrast, both have opposite personalities. Asgore is a humble pacifist who only fights because he wants to set his people free. Chaor is more ruthless and belligerent, fighting because that’s how the underworld works. However he still cares for his people

On an unrelated note, Chaor has a pretty big ego. The guy hosted a competition that he was competing in, erected several statues of himself and even some windows in underworld city are shaped after him. I just thought it would be funny to bring up.

Animation Potential

Once again I’ll be giving a brief overview of the fight before explaining it in parts. No despite Chaor looking like dumb brute, he’s pretty clever. He has come with some pretty good strategies. And if you watch Chaotic then you might notice how the characters often use their surroundings to their advantage. So I think it would be cool to have the fight be Chaor using a strategic approach against Asgore who is using a more straightforward approach.

The Setup

Once again the setups write themselves. The fight could start as a result of an invasion of the underground from the underworld’s forces. The animation could open up with a scene of the underworld’s forces decimating the underground’s with their superior numbers, training, weaponry and giant robots. (Did you know there were giant robots in perim? There was an entire episode about a robot revolution) The scene cuts to Asgore sitting on his throne in the flower room pondering his decisions. Alphys comes in giving a status report on the situation, saying that one of the invaders went ahead of everyone else. The sound of a motor can be heard in the distance. Chaor bursts through the door on a mowercycle, desecrating the flower room. The two have a staredown and the fight begins.

The Actual Fight

There are two ways this fight could go. Either, Chaor uses his telebracers to transport port them to different location in chaotic. Now if you didn’t know, chaotic is full of cool locations with different effects. Some boost the power of attacks of a certain element, others cause the creature with a lower stat to suffer negative effects, like hallucination, allowing for cool moments like this. The problem is that I’m not sure Chaor’s telebracers can do that, since they’re an early version and we never see Chaor use them like that. But there’s another idea. Have Chaor rely a lot more on wits while Asgore uses a more brute force approach. Chaor’s strategies could involve setting the room on fire to suffocate Asgore, catching him by surprise with a magma might attack from underground.  If there’s one more thing I’d like the fight to have, it’s a reversal of how the typical Asgore fight is depicted, with Asgore’s tall figure looming over the opponent. Here a description. Chaor is nowhere to be seen, but a the loud sound of metallic footsteps approaches. Bursting through a wall, Chaor appears riding a viledriver. This is the moment Asgore realizes he’s in a fight for his life.

Banter

I think this fight has some pretty good banter potential. Asgore would feel that his hand was forced into fighting while Chaor is simply eager for conquest. Chaor could not take Asgore seriously at the beginning of the fight, since his forces decimated Asgore’s earlier, only for him to realize Asgore isn’t fooling around. Maybe even incorporate Chaor’s pride and hotheadedness.

Music

Now on paper, you think this mu would have a very heavy metal soundtrack. I mean just look at Chaor, the guy looks he’d have doom music playing in the background. But listen to Chaotic’s soundtrack.

Did you notice anything about this? It’s all orchestral. And that’s what I think the sound track should sound like. If this were to be a fight, it would be a no-brainer that it should incorporate elements of Asgore’s theme. But I think there should be a moment that sounds more like toriel’s theme during a moment of anticipation. From Chaotic’s side, I believe that it should have something resembling  “Battle”, maybe “underworld” and when the fight starts reaching its end, it begins sounding like “victory”, to give a feeling of “this is it, we’re nearing the end of the fight”.  And so, if someone were to make the soundtrack have anything outside of orchestral, I’ll track them down and throw them into the body banks. (Remember that?). I also think that it should have one part that sounds like mugic. What does mugic sound like? This

The Track would probably be something along the lines of “Chaotic Route” or “Discord of Determination”

Who Would Win?

It’s a little tricky considering Undetale’s power scaling is very vague but assuming both Chaor and Asgore are around the same level, then Chaor should take it mid difficulty. He’s got a pretty tricky arsenal with attacks that can affect stats and destroy weaponry, which will get rid of the problem Asgore’s trident presents. Chaor is also the smarter and probably more experienced of the two. He’s been part of a war that has been going on since before he was born and he’s probably been leading the underworld since his younger days.

Conclusion

This match up is cool, if you disagree, uhmmm, you’re wrong. And if you wanna know more about chaotic, the entire series is on youtube. There are also plans to bring it back. #bringbackchaotic

Otto’s Comments

Undertale?

Yeah, I’m cheering the big red demon guy out of general principle.

That is all, carry on.

Okay, let me write a little more here…

So, a battle between two evil underground kings…does the winner get to fight the Gnome King?

Return to Oz’s Gnome King is one of my favorite film villains. I read somewhere that when adapting the Gnome King and the scene where he turns everyone to ornaments from Ozma of Oz, the script writers turned to child psychology to make the Gnome King an even more effective villain. They read an article out of psychology journal that said that one of the things children fear most is feeling guilty, of being convinced that something they did was not only bad but that they should feel bad for doing it. So they gave a sweet-talking aspect to the Gnome King and had him stress to Dorothy that it was her fault she and her friends had to play his game because she broke the rules and the game is punishment for her having done so.

It made him so sadistic. It wasn’t enough to force Dorothy to play his game, he had to convince her that it was the just thing to do just to hurt her that much more. And here’s the cool part–it ties into the

Return to Oz was great, it doesn’t get near enough love.

Anyway, what were we talking about? Underground bad guys?

Yeah. Those are called Deros. It stands for “detrimental robot.” Ever hear about the Shaver mysteries? “I Remember Lemuria?” They live beneath the surface in the ruins of Lemuria and Atlantis hunting the few true descendants of the first men. They are not mechanical or artificial beings. They are called robots because of the mechanical, emotionless way they go about torturing other living beings. They are completely insane, twisted by generations of radiation exposure, and exist only to fulfill their twisted desires. They crawl through the dirt in circular homes that run off steam and sometimes go above ground, creating rumors of UFOS, to torture mankind for no other reason than that they can.

The ground is for the dead. Fear those that live there.

…wait we were talking about children’s media, right?
